What advice do you have for ambitious young design graduates?
Introduce yourself to, and get to know, a variety of designers who practice their art in different ways: working for a design firm, freelancing, etc. Be open to all the different ways you can be a graphic designer...

What is your design background?
With my company, Artisan Graphics, I've been in the creative arts business in the greater Bay Area since 1981; I'm currently located in Pleasanton.
What do you do for fun?
Fortunately, my design work provides day-to-day fun. In leisure times I enjoy: photography, wine-tasting, long walks, weekly volunteer work. Vacations and long weekends are great for exploring new places; and world travel when time & finances allow.

Our regular meetings are ALWAYS interesting and fun. I find it a very worthwhile commitment carving out one evening every month for this connection to other designers. I don't want to miss what will be discussed each month, because the subject matter is always different, but the sense of cameraderie the same.
